S ailor Moon   Sailor Neptune Completed August 2011 Items Made: Dress, Choker, Glove Cuffs. This and Sailor Uranus were my 2nd attempt at Sailor Suits and it's amazing how much I've improved since then.  But I'm absolutely in love with these!   The dress, collar, bows and choker were made, the glove tops were made and added to a store bought pair of gloves.  The shoes were purchased and painted and the ribbons added.  The tiara was purchased from Catzia's Collectibles and is beautiful and totally worth the money. PS. I bought the smooth gem tiaras and had the metal ring detail added around the stone.  It costs a little more but looks better if you ask me. I also bought the pendant Neptune wears on her choker which turned out to be craft foam and an acrylic gem... I thought it would be metal with a gem... but, oh well. The earrings where just jewelry store finds... gold hoops, pretty standard. Water Fairy Gown Original Concept Completed June 2011 Items made: Dress, Sash This was made based on a sketch and a few inspiration pics that were sent to me. The idea was a for a water or sea sprite. The bodice is a corset-style bodice done in gradient dyed satin with lace overlay. Chiffon Grecian style sleeves and a V-neck line were added. The sash is satin and the skirt multiple layers of chiffon and organza petals with an organza train. And lots of Swarovski crystals.     Fun Side Note: I totally spazzed when I was making this and thought I had a week longer than I actually had so I had to ship the dress out early so it could be worn to the event for which it was made.  The dress was unfinished -- I hadn't put on the stones because they hadn't come in the mail yet, and I didn't have enough fabric to make the sash properly.  So the above photo doesn't have crystals and the sash is crappy.  The pictures below...

S ailor Moon   Darien/Mamoru Original Concept Completed July 2006 Items Made:Jacket This is an original design for a costume to complement a Lolita/babydoll version of Serena (Usagi). It's made of white twill microsuede with light blue lining and piping.  Although in hindsight, I should have talked the cosplayer to choose white and lavender as the colors to allude to Darien/Mamoru's later evolution into King Endymion -- who wears a lavender tuxedo. 

Street Fighter III Yun Lee Created May 2006 Items Made: Tunic Not much to say on this one.  Just a simple front closing tunic with some piping detail around the collar.  The coolest thing is the frog closures.  I made these as fake frogs.  They actually are one piece that snap in place with hidden snaps.  The tunic is made from twill microsuede and the yellow braided trim was hand dyed.   Oh, and this was the first commission I ever took on!!

Sailor Moon Sailor Moon Created July 2006 Items Made: Dress, Cape, Gloves (not pictured). Looking back on this, I have to say that this wasn't a bad attempt, although, my next round of Sailor Suits came out much better.   Most importantly I knew that this particular costume was going to be worn by a girl with curves, so instead of using stretch fabric and a leotard pattern, I found a dress pattern with an empire waist, loose upper bodice, and a v-neckline.  The lower bodice has some seaming detail which I could have omitted, but I thought that it wasn't terribly distracting and would help with the silhouette and would address the needs of a curvy figure.  The cosplayer wanted the costume to be shiny so I used high sheen fabrics -- Windsor Satin for the Bodice, Skirt, and Collar. The Cape was requested by the client to reflect some early Sailor Moon drawings. It is made from Silver Foil Knit and Costume Satin and is reversible. ...

Remember how I always say, you never know when inspiration or a solution to a problem will present itself... well, both of those have happened just now... I think.... So, here's what's been a problem for me for a while... Finding fabric for Prince Diamond.  I haven't been able to find anything I've liked.... or anything from a website I trust... But I was just watching some video I filmed a few months ago at the costume shop at school... and I showed -- in the video -- a costume made from embossed velvet... That's it!  That's the answer.   So I'm gonna do this... with this rubber stamp... or at least one like it.   That way I can get the  Indian motif I want on just plain old, ordinary velvet.  I think that would work beautifully. Whoo hoo!!! Time to go fabric shopping!!!!  OH! And LOOK what I found on ebay!!!!   Wouldn't this make the most BEAUTIFUL cape?!?!?!  I just have to wait until payday so I can buy...
